Simposio Anestesia

The "1st Argentine-Chilean Symposium on Anesthesia" and the "2nd International Congress on Anesthesia in Obesity" are two advanced postgraduate scientific events in the field of anesthesia scheduled to take place in Mendoza Province, Argentina, from May 18th to May 21st, 2017.

Organized by the Scientific Secretariat of the Mendoza Association of Anesthesiology (AMA), this symposium commemorates the bicentennial of the Crossing of the Andes and the San Martín Campaign. It is coordinated with Clinica Las Condes in Santiago, Chile, which will send a delegation of five highly esteemed international professionals from the Society of Anesthesiology of Chile (SACH). The symposium includes conferences, simulation workshops, and intra-congress courses designed to enhance knowledge and skills in anesthesia.

The "2nd International Congress on Anesthesia in Obesity" continues the work initiated in 2016 with the "1st Congress on Anesthesia in Obesity." This congress aims to address the daily challenges faced in anesthesia administration for obese patients, a growing demographic segment. The event will focus on discussing solutions to the anesthetic difficulties encountered in this patient population within the Latin American context.

Academically, the event will cover several key topics:

1. Emergencies in Anesthesia:

   • Management of Anesthesia Crises: Including anaphylaxis and malignant hyperthermia, strategies for improving performance.
   • Pathogenesis of Malignant Hyperthermia: Understanding the underlying causes.
   • Serotonergic Syndrome: Its implications and management.
   • Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome: Etiopathogenesis and clinical considerations.
   • Anesthesia Equipment: Focus on anesthesia machine ventilators.

2. Pediatrics:

   • Hemorrhagic Shock in Pediatrics: Management techniques.
   • Subarachnoid Block in Newborns: Techniques and considerations.
   • Pediatric Diabetic Patient: Special considerations and care.
   • Echocardiography in Pediatrics: Diagnostic applications.

3. Regional Anesthesia:

   • Anatomy of Supraclavicular Block: Detailed anatomical insights.
   • Axillary Block: Practical techniques and applications.

4. Anesthesiologist Health:

   • Psychiatric Consequences of Stress: Addressing mental health issues in anesthesiologists.

Both events are sponsored by the FAAAAR and the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the National University of Cuyo (FCM-UNC) and are registered in the national calendar of scientific activities by FAAAAR. All activities will be held at the Hotel Raíces Aconcagua located at San Lorenzo 545, City of Mendoza, Argentina.

On Saturday, May 21st, following the academic sessions, participants are invited to attend a lunch of camaraderie at Lagarde Winery, featuring entertainment by "Los Cumpas with Urban Chamuyo."
