Established in October 1933 by Doris Vera Thompson, Kingsmead College has a rich history spanning nearly nine decades. The school first welcomed 136 girls ranging from Grade 1 to Post-Matriculation in 1934. Over the years, the campus has expanded significantly to accommodate the growing number of students. Adjacent properties, including houses and gardens, have been acquired, allowing the college to build additional facilities that enhance the learning experience.

Today, Kingsmead College caters to girls from Grade 000 to Grade 12, with a vibrant community of approximately 870 students. The school's commitment to providing a holistic education ensures that each student receives personalized attention and support, fostering their growth into confident, compassionate, and capable individuals.
