A Legacy of Family Values and Excellence

Carousel Supermercados is a cherished family business that has been serving the community since November 11, 1972, in São Lourenço. Initially established as Casa Dutra Ltda, the business included a building materials store and the representation of Antárctica drinks. Over time, the partners decided to dissolve the company, and each took on different parts of the business.

José Ildefonso Fernandes, along with his brother-in-law Lourenço Sérgio Nogueira, ventured into the self-service sector, which eventually evolved into the well-known Carousel Supermercados. Unfortunately, Lourenço Sérgio Nogueira left the company in October 1975, leaving José Ildefonso to manage it solo. He later partnered with his wife Regina, who became an integral part of the business.

A Family Affair

The business continued to flourish as José Ildefonso's children were gradually brought into the fold. Today, the company is managed by Heli, José Carlos, Dimas, Flávio, Luciano, and Regina Célia, each contributing their unique skills and experiences to the success of Carousel Supermercados. Notably, José Ildefonso stepped back from active management in 1988 to focus on managing Sítio Carrossel.

In a family vote, Heli was chosen to lead the company, working alongside his brothers to ensure continuity and growth. With five Carousel stores located in São Lourenço, Caxambu, Baependi, and Itanhandu, and an additional store under the Semper Nosso banner in São Lourenço, the company has grown significantly over the years. These stores collectively provide employment for over 600 people, reflecting the company's commitment to the local economy and community.

Looking Ahead

As Carousel Supermercados celebrates its 50th anniversary, the family remains committed to excellence and expansion. They plan to create even more job opportunities and continue providing top-notch service to their customers.
