Doctor Bee: A Puzzle Game with Animal Doctor Elements
In the game "Doctor Bee," players are immersed in a world where they can utilize a physics-based simulation system to overcome challenges and experience the thrill of swinging. The game's visual design is exceptional, with stunning halos and intricate details that make the overall painting stand out. One unique aspect that sets it apart from other games is its micro-expression effects, which are truly astonishing. Coupled with the right music, these elements create a strong sense of empathy.
However, one potential drawback is the intense sad atmosphere prevalent in the middle and later stages of the game. Despite the game ending with a bright, colorful scene and uplifting music, it might not be sufficient to lift players out of the melancholic mood induced earlier.
At the start of the game, an old man makes an appearance. Though his expression seems lonely, the predominant color scheme and themes hint at a tragic narrative. After reading numerous reviews, I noticed that many describe the music as warm and peaceful, while the game itself is portrayed as refreshing. These descriptions left me questioning my own perspective.
The game's plot unfolds over four chapters, each corresponding to different stages of life and seasons: Childhood (Spring), Youth (Summer), Adulthood (Autumn), and Old Age (Winter). The progression through these seasons amplifies feelings of sadness, which often overshadow moments of extreme happiness. The protagonist, a young girl with a passion for knitting, reminisces about her childhood days spent playing with friends and admiring blooming sunflowers. Her memories are akin to those of an elf bound by a rope, unable to venture further, setting the stage for future rebellion.
Young children may not fully comprehend the implications of environmental degradation or the loss of their living spaces. An incident that appears as a simple car accident is actually a manifestation of prolonged environmental neglect. From the wreckage of a contaminated factory, one can observe poisonous gases seeping outwards, while the interior reveals a dark, cockroach-infested space. The once-cute crabs and pristine streams have vanished, transforming the environment into a deadly zone. Developers' negligence has led to mass migration, leaving behind desolate landscapes and an eerie silence that lingers in the protagonist’s memory.
As time progresses, the pain gradually fades, making way for new experiences. Winter arrives, blanketing everything in white. The protagonist reflects on the joyous snowball fights of her youth, but now feels like a rusty machine incapable of movement. Just as electronic devices become obsolete after extended periods of disuse, the protagonist’s memories and emotions seem to stagnate, awaiting rediscovery.
