Meri Panchayat App - A Comprehensive Governance Tool

Introduction

The Meri Panchayat App is the official application of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India. Designed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), this app serves as a unified and integrated mobile-based governance platform for over 80 crore rural residents, functionaries, and all other stakeholders involved in the Panchayati Raj System.

Key Features

The Meri Panchayat App is aimed at enhancing transparency in all functions and operations of Panchayats, ensuring accountability, and facilitating public participation in the functioning of Panchayats and the preparation of panchayat development plans. It also supports social audits of all development works and beneficiaries of various schemes.

Seamless Integration

The app seamlessly integrates with several portals such as eGram Swaraj, Vibrant Gram Sabha, GPDP, Audit Online, MactionSoft, MGNREGA, and Audit Online. This integration ensures that there is a single common mobile platform for citizens and functionaries, unifying and integrating diversified functions and information across these portals.

Enhancing Transparency and Participation

Meri Panchayat App provides a holistic view of the Panchayat, making it easier for residents to access all information about the functioning of Panchayats directly on their smartphones. This enhances transparency in operations and encourages active participation from the community.

Access to Information

Residents can download and use the Meri Panchayat App to obtain detailed information about public representatives, panchayat committees, schedules, agendas, and decisions made in Gram Sabha Meetings. They can also access information about the panchayat budget, works, and activities included in the Panchayat Development Plan, fund availability, revenue, and expenditure details, ongoing and completed development works, Panchayat assets, and beneficiaries of various welfare schemes.

Proposing and Reviewing Activities

The app enables residents to propose new works and activities to be included in the Gram Panchayat Development Plan based on their suggestions. They can also review and rate the activities and works included in the development plans, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility among the community members.

Location-Based Services

Meri Panchayat App also extends the objectives of the Provision of Urban Amenities to Rural Areas (PURA) by offering location-based services to authenticated rural residents. Users can register genuine complaints from the complaint location, complete with evidence in the form of geo-tagged, geo-fenced photos. Complaints can range from issues related to garbage, cleanliness, street lights, drinking water supply, dead animals, dirty public toilets, and poor-quality development works. The app also facilitates location-based services for social audits of development works and beneficiaries, allowing the public to view and report the status and quality of works directly from the site location.
