About Dominoes
Dominoes is a free and timeless classic game that brings the joy of traditional tile-based gameplay to your fingertips. With multiple modes such as Draw, Block, and All-Fives (Muggins), this application offers a variety of ways to enjoy the game. Whether you're a seasoned player or new to dominoes, there's something here for everyone. The game is designed to be easy to pick up but challenging to master, making it perfect for casual play or competitive matches.
The game begins by shuffling the dominoes and dealing a hand to each player. In a two-player game, each player starts with 7 dominoes, while more players receive 5 dominoes each. The player with the lowest double in their hand gets to make the first move, setting the tone for the rest of the game. As the game progresses, players take turns placing dominoes on the board, matching the numbers on either end. This simple rule leads to complex strategies and engaging interactions between players.
In most variations of the game, if a player cannot make a move, they must draw dominoes from the boneyard until they find one they can play. However, in the Block variant, players who cannot play and have no tiles left in the boneyard must pass their turn. This adds an extra layer of strategy, as players must plan ahead and manage their tiles carefully. Additionally, in All-Fives dominoes, players earn points when the sum of all four sides of a played domino is a multiple of five, creating opportunities for quick score boosts.
The round ends when a player successfully plays all their tiles or when the game becomes blocked, meaning no more moves can be made. At the end of each round, the player with the lightest hand—meaning the fewest number of dots on their remaining dominoes—receives a point bonus. This bonus is calculated by subtracting the total number of dots on the winner's remaining dominoes from the sum of their opponents' remaining tiles. This scoring system encourages players to not only focus on playing their tiles but also on minimizing their own scores.
To play, simply tap a domino you want to place. If there is only one valid position for it, the game will place it automatically. Otherwise, you can tap or drag-and-drop the domino onto the connecting tile. The intuitive controls make it easy to play on mobile devices, allowing for seamless gameplay on the go.
This free version of Dominoes is supported by third-party advertisements. These ads may require internet connectivity, which could result in data charges depending on your network provider. Additionally, the game requires access to photos, media, and files to save game data to external storage and to cache ads efficiently. While ads are part of the free experience, they do not interfere with the core gameplay.
