Discovering Xeo Quít

Located in the territories of My Hiep and My Long in Cao Lanh district, Dong Thap province, Xeo Quít is situated approximately 30 kilometers from Cao Lanh city. Covering an expansive area of 50 hectares, including a 20-hectare melaleuca forest, Xeo Quít served as a crucial revolutionary base during the resistance war against the United States from 1960 to 1975. The Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee played a pivotal role in leading the local people through these tumultuous times.

Natural Biodiversity

In recognition of its historical significance, Xeo Quít was designated a national historical relic in 1992. Today, it stands as a testament to the resilience and courage of the people who fought for their freedom. The site is also home to a diverse ecosystem, featuring around 170 plant species, including 158 wild species and 12 tree species. Among the fauna, you can find 200 wild species, ranging from 7 species of frogs and 22 species of reptiles to 73 species of fish, 91 species of birds, and 7 species of mammals. Notably, 13 rare and precious animal species listed in the Vietnam Red Book, such as pythons, cobras, box turtles, broad-billed lemongrass birds, and common otters, call this place home.

As part of efforts to preserve and develop the site, Xeo Quít has become a popular tourist destination. By the end of 2012, over 50,000 visitors had explored the site, exceeding the annual plan by 123%.
