HidroObserva

The HidroObserva application is an innovative initiative by ANA (National Water Agency) designed to streamline the collection and transmission of data from hydrological monitoring stations. Its primary goal is to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the process for recording and transmitting measurements of rainfall, water levels, flow rates, and water quality, all of which are crucial for effective management of the National Hydrometeorological Network (RHN).

Traditionally, data from manual monitoring stations (conventional stations) were recorded in field bulletins and then either collected by hydrometrist teams or mailed to operational units with which ANA partners. This method was time-consuming and prone to errors. With the advent of HidroObserva, data can now be directly inputted into the application when internet access is available. This immediate data submission to the National Water Resources Information System (SNIRH) significantly reduces the time required for data processing and minimizes transcription errors that often occur during manual entry.

Currently, the application is tailored for use by the thousands of hydrological observers already registered with ANA. These observers are responsible for regularly taking readings at the stations that comprise the RHN. By leveraging HidroObserva, these individuals can contribute to a more robust and reliable database, ultimately improving the overall quality and accessibility of water resource information.
