Are you an experienced cross-country (XC) paragliding pilot who occasionally lands far from the intended spot? This application, "Paragliding Pilot Retrieve," simplifies the process of informing your retrieval team about your current location and status. It enables you to send a message with minimal effort and in just a few clicks.

How to Use the App

To make the most out of the "Paragliding Pilot Retrieve" app, follow these straightforward steps:

1. Enable GPS: Turn on your device's GPS to ensure accurate location tracking.
2. Launch the App: Open the application on your smartphone.
3. Select a Message: Click the 'Select message' button. A list of 12 pre-defined messages will appear, allowing you to choose the most appropriate one based on your situation. Once selected, the button will confirm the message and display its text.
4. Sending Without Location: If your message indicates that you are returning on your own or back at base, simply click 'Send message.' Your phone will prompt you to select a messaging service, such as WhatsApp or SMS. Follow the instructions provided by the chosen service.
5. Sending With Location: If you wish to include your GPS coordinates, follow the same procedure as above, but the message will also contain a Google Maps pin with latitude and longitude details.

App Features

• Efficient Data Transfer: Designed to minimize data usage, sending only around 150 bytes per retrieve message. This ensures smooth operation even in areas with poor internet connectivity.
• Fallback Option: In case of no internet connection, the app supports SMS as a reliable fallback method. Both your location and message will still be transmitted.
• Optimal GPS Performance: For best results, use the app in open spaces where GPS signals are strongest, providing accuracy within a few meters.
