ESCWA-Tech

This iPad app provides information on activities by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) on technology for development as implemented by the Technology for Development Division. Activities are clustered into thematic focus areas that fall within the mandate of ESCWA and internationally agreed goals. Thematic areas covered: profiling the information society in the Arab region, the development and harmonization of cyber legislation for promoting cyber safety, Internet governance, ICT policy for social and economic development, digital Arabic content, the impact of ICT on social and economic development, and research and innovation in science and technology.

The app offers many features such as multilingual search functionality for English and Arabic, selecting favorite articles, turning channels on and off, access to PDF files, sharing of articles on social media, and font customization.

This is a reference app for all stakeholders involved in the use of technology for development such as governments, the civil society, academia, and the private sector.

يوفر هذه التطبيق أحدث المعلومات حول أنشطة لجنة الأمم المتحدة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية لغربي آسيا (الإسكوا) حول استخدام التكنولوجيا من أجل التنمية، وهو ما تقوم به إدارة التكنولوجيا من أجل التنمية. تم تجميع الأنشطة في هذا التطبيق بحسب المواضيع والمجالات التي تندرج في إطار عمل الإسكوا وتحت مظلة الأهداف المتفق عليها دولياً. وتشمل المجالات ما يلي: ملامح مجتمع المعلومات في المنطقة العربية، وتطوير وتنسيق التشريعات السيبرانية لتعزيز السلامة السيبرانية، وحوكمة الإنترنت، وسياسات تكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات من أجل التنمية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية، والمحتوى الرقمي العربي، وأثر تكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات على التنمية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية، والبحث والابتكار في مجالات العلوم والتكنولوجيا.

يقدم التطبيق العديد من الميزات مثل البحث متعددة اللغات بالإنكليزية والعربية، واختيار المقالات المفضلة، وتشغيل أو إطفاء القنوات، والوصول إلى الملفات بشكل PDF، وتشارك المقالات على وسائل الاعلام الاجتماعية، وتغيير خصائص الخط.

يشكل هذه التطبيق مرجعاً لجميع الفرقاء المعنيين باستخدامات التكنولوجيا من أجل التنمية كالحكومات، والمجتمع المدني، والأكاديميين، والقطاع الخاص.
