The Better Access Map (BAM) is an innovative application designed to provide comprehensive information about the accessibility features of various organizations and businesses. Whether you need details about physical, hearing, visual, or sensory access needs, BAM offers easy-to-use information that empowers individuals with disabilities to venture out independently and with dignity.

Consultation and Information Collection

Recognizing that accessibility can vary widely, BAM was developed through extensive consultation with a diverse group of individuals who have a range of access needs, including those related to physical, hearing, visual, and sensory impairments. This collaborative approach ensures that the information provided is relevant and useful to a broad audience.

Trained Assessors

Trained assessors play a crucial role in gathering detailed data. Many of these assessors have their own access requirements, ensuring a deep understanding of the challenges faced by users. Each venue is visited in person, and over 200 pieces of information are collected during these visits. It's important to note that assessors do not label venues as "accessible" or "not accessible." Instead, they meticulously gather the specific information that our map users find essential for making informed decisions about accessibility.
