About Primal's 3D Embryology

Primal's 3D Embryology: Your Ultimate 3D Interactive Resource

Primal's 3D Embryology app is the ultimate 3D interactive resource for medical educators, practitioners, and students. Developed in collaboration with Amsterdam’s Academic Medical Centre (AMC), this app offers meticulously crafted 3D models of embryos derived from micro-CT scans of the Carnegie Collection. It provides accurate and visually stunning reconstructions of embryonic development from weeks 3 to 8 (Carnegie Stages 7 to 23).

Intuitive Interface and User-Friendly Tools

The app's intuitive interface allows you to explore embryos and developmental structures from any angle you desire. A variety of user-friendly tools make it easy to set up your ideal anatomical images:

  • Gallery: Contains 18 pre-set scenes designed by anatomical experts. These scenes are divided into fourteen layers, offering a step-by-step understanding of each developmental stage. The scenes are accurately scaled, enhancing your comprehension of the embryo's growth through each Carnegie Stage.

  • Contents Folders: Organize over 300 structures systematically. You can browse by subcategories and activate all related structures simultaneously. For instance, you can turn on all developing brain structures or select all ear-related structures.

  • Layer Controls: Split each Carnegie Stage into five layers—deep to superficial—enabling you to build up different systems to the desired level of detail.

Enhanced Features for Customization and Sharing

  • Favorites: Save unique views for later reference. Export your favorites list, share with other users, save images for presentations, revision materials, or research papers. Create URL links to share unique models with others.

  • Add Labels: Customize images with pins, labels, and drawing tools for dynamic presentations, engaging course materials, and handouts. Add detailed descriptions in labels for personal revision notes.

Informative and Comprehensive

  • Anatomical Names: Select and highlight structures to reveal their anatomical names. Each name aligns with Terminologia Embryologica (TE), a standardized nomenclature produced by the Federative International Committee on Anatomical Terminology.

  • Limitless Control: Each structure can be selected, highlighted, or hidden. Structures can be ghosted to reveal underlying anatomy or inspected for close-up views. Use the orientation cube to rotate models in any anatomical direction.

With Primal's 3D Embryology, you have unparalleled control over your learning experience. Whether you're preparing lectures, conducting research, or studying for exams, this app provides the tools you need to enhance your understanding of embryonic development.
