The "MyLife CamAPS FX (mmol/L)" application is designed to provide a hybrid closed-loop insulin delivery system for individuals with type 1 diabetes, particularly those using the YpsoPump. Key Functionality

The CamAPS FX app continuously connects to a continuous glucose sensor (such as the Dexcom G6 or FreeStyle Libre 3 transmitter) via Bluetooth, processing real-time sensor data to adjust insulin delivery automatically. This process, known as hybrid closed-loop or automated insulin delivery, ensures that the insulin pump administers the precise amount of insulin needed based on glucose levels.

Additionally, the app facilitates SMS alerts, allowing parents and guardians to receive notifications regarding glucose levels. This feature is crucial for remote monitoring, ensuring that caregivers can stay informed about the health status of their loved ones. The app also supports the Companion mode, enabling users to receive alerts directly through the app itself.

Modes of Operation

The CamAPS FX app offers two primary modes of operation:

1. Auto Mode Off (Open Loop):

   • This mode is similar to traditional pump usage, where the pump follows a pre-programmed basal profile or user instructions.
   • It serves as the default mode upon system startup.

2. Auto Mode On (Closed Loop):

   • In this mode, the app takes full control of insulin delivery, adjusting the basal insulin infusion dynamically.
   • If conditions prevent the app from fully entering Auto mode (e.g., if CGM data becomes unavailable), the system will revert to the pre-programmed basal rate after approximately 30 minutes.
   • During both Auto Mode On and Off, all app-generated alarms and alerts can be sent via SMS to up to five designated followers for remote monitoring.

How Closed-Loop Works

The CamAPS FX app employs a sophisticated mathematical model to determine insulin infusion rates, aiming to maintain glucose levels around 6 mmol/L. To ensure accurate predictions, the model requires input parameters such as body weight and total daily insulin dose. Continuous glucose monitor (CGM) data, previous insulin infusions, and meal intake are continuously analyzed to refine insulin sensitivity and other individual-specific characteristics.

In scenarios where glucose levels are low or rapidly decreasing, the control algorithm adjusts insulin delivery to minimize the risk of hypoglycemia.
