Developed in collaboration with the Menzies School of Health Research, the University of South Australia, and Uncle Jimmy Thumbs Up!, a long-standing advocate for promoting healthy diets among Indigenous children, the Good Tucker app leverages cutting-edge technology to empower users. The app is built using the same technology that powers the popular "Food Switch" app, which allows users to scan product barcodes and receive immediate feedback on the healthiness of the item.

When you scan a product's barcode, the Good Tucker app instantly evaluates its nutritional content and assigns it a simple thumbs-up, sideways, or thumbs-down rating. This visual indicator helps users quickly understand whether a product aligns with their health goals. The rating system is based on a combination of the product's Health Star Rating and the Australian Bureau of Statistics' discretionary food classification, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of each item's nutritional value.
