In the farthest corners of our world, magic still thrives in the form of spirits that govern the land, sky, and every natural element. As European colonial empires expand their reach, they inevitably encounter these mystical lands where spirits hold sway. When they do, the very earth itself rises up against them, alongside the island's inhabitants.

Spirit Island is a cooperative settler-destruction strategy game designed by R. Eric Reuss, set in an alternate-history world around A.D. 1700. Players embody various Spirits of the land, each endowed with unique elemental powers, tasked with defending their island home from colonizing Invaders who spread blight and destruction. You and your fellow Spirits collaborate with the native Dahan to increase your strength and ultimately drive the invaders away from your island through strategic area control.
