Green Punjab: Empowering Citizens Against Smog

The Punjab Government has introduced the Green Punjab smartphone application to address and resolve smog-related issues faced by citizens. This innovative platform allows citizens to file complaints against various sources of pollution such as unauthorized burning of medical waste and garbage, operation of smoke-emitting kilns and vehicles, and factories lacking proper smoke control equipment.

By utilizing this app, users can efficiently report these violations to the relevant authorities, ensuring prompt action and resolution. Additionally, complainants receive timely updates regarding the status of their complaints, fostering transparency and accountability in the process.

Green Punjab is seamlessly integrated with multiple institutions including the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), metropolitan corporation, traffic police, Parks and Horticulture Authority, and departments of agriculture, transportation, industry, and local government. These partnerships ensure comprehensive coverage and effective management of reported issues across different sectors.
