MoP-UP App: Empowering Poverty Alleviation in Uttar Pradesh

The MoP-UP app is a groundbreaking tool designed to help the Government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP) achieve its ambitious goal of eliminating extreme poverty within a year. This initiative aligns with the Prime Minister's vision of targeting zero poverty by 2047, emphasizing the importance of leveraging technology to drive social change.

On August 15, 2024, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh formally announced this initiative, following which the GoUP issued a government order (GO) on October 02, 2024. The GO outlines a clear strategy to utilize technology for identifying and supporting ultra-poor families. Specifically, it aims to enumerate 10-25 ultra-poor families from each of the 57,695 Gram Panchayats spread across the state's 75 districts.

The MoP-UP app, first approved via a government order on May 25, 2023, has already identified 6.23 lakh families in need. With continuous upgrades, the app now accommodates more detailed and comprehensive information. This enhanced capability allows GoUP to develop and implement various livelihood schemes and customized projects tailored to the specific needs of these households. By providing granular data and insights, the MoP-UP app serves as a critical tool in the fight against poverty, enabling policymakers to make informed decisions and tailor interventions effectively.

This initiative not only highlights the commitment of the GoUP to addressing socio-economic disparities but also underscores the transformative potential of technology in public welfare programs.
