Real-Time Reporting of the Hedley Environmental Index

The "Hedley Environmental Index" (HEI) application offers real-time reporting of air quality indices for Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The HEI is measured on a scale ranging from 1 to 12 and beyond, categorized into five bands representing varying levels of air pollution: low, moderate, high, very high, and serious.

Key Features

• Air Pollutants Monitoring: The app reports air pollutants that exceed the World Health Organization Air Quality Guidelines (WHO AQG) at 13 urban rooftop and 3 roadside air monitoring stations in Hong Kong, along with 11 stations in Shenzhen.
• Hourly HEI Reports: Users can access the hourly HEI for each monitoring station, providing up-to-date information on air quality.
• Pollutant Concentrations: Detailed reports of air pollutant concentrations (PM2.5, PM10, SO2, NO2, and O3) at each station, including their past 48-hour trends.
• Health Impact Analysis: The app calculates the hospitalization risks for cardio-pulmonary diseases and mortality risks due to non-accidental causes based on the current air pollutant levels.
• Personalized Risk Assessment: It provides individual risk assessments tailored to different user profiles.
• Station Selection: Users can view either Hong Kong or Shenzhen monitoring stations, or both simultaneously.
• Widget Support: The app supports widgets for easy access.
• Language Support: Available in Traditional Chinese and English.
• Unit Conversion: Users can switch between microgram per cubic metre (µg/m³) and parts per billion (ppb) for pollutant concentration units.

• Internet Access: Required for data retrieval.
• GPS: Used for reporting air quality and weather information.
