At its core, the Huiju APP represents more than just a technological tool; it embodies a legacy of dedication to spreading authentic Buddhist knowledge. The story begins in 1952 when Mr. Zhou Xuan De, a prominent layman and founder of the Huiju Institution, embarked on a mission to correct misconceptions about Buddhism prevalent at the time. By advocating for educated youth to embrace Buddhism, he aimed to promote correct views and practices within the community. This vision was realized when Taiwan University's Dawnlight Society became the first university-based Buddhist study group in Taiwan under his guidance. Following this milestone, similar groups formed across ninety-seven other universities nationwide, sparking what would later be known as the "Buddhist Movement Among College Students." Mr. Zhou's efforts not only ignited interest among young intellectuals but also established a model for laity-driven dharma propagation.

Building upon this foundation, further initiatives were launched to deepen engagement with Buddhist studies. In 1961, with support from Canadian benefactor Mr. Zhan Lu Wu, the "Huiju Magazine Publishing Foundation" was established to publish Huiju Magazine. Distributed freely to university Buddhist societies and the general public alike, this publication played a crucial role in disseminating accurate Buddhist teachings. Additionally, regular gatherings called "Huiju Porridge Meetings" facilitated dialogue between different campus organizations, strengthening ties within the broader Buddhist community. Concurrently, the "Huiju Publishing House," funded by American Buddhist leader Mr. Shen Jia Zhen, produced over a hundred books covering various aspects of Buddhism. These works reached audiences both domestically and internationally, earning widespread acclaim.

Beyond publishing, scholarships were introduced to incentivize research into Buddhist philosophy. Established in collaboration with renowned monks and nuns worldwide, these awards provided financial assistance to students who excelled in their academic pursuits related to Buddhism. Many recipients went on to become influential figures in society, contributing positively towards social reform and ethical development. Other charitable entities affiliated with the Huiju Institution include the "Zhan Yu Studio Layperson Buddhist Cultural Scholarship Fund," the "Memorial Yu Ji Ju Educational Scholarship Foundation," and the "Chinese Huiju Buddhist Association." Together, they form a network dedicated to advancing Buddhist culture and education.

Today, the Huiju APP continues this tradition of innovation and service. It offers users access to diverse resources including video lectures, written articles, and interactive forums where individuals can share thoughts and experiences. Regular updates keep members informed about upcoming seminars, workshops, and community service projects organized by the institution. Furthermore, special attention is given to nurturing younger generations through creative writing programs aimed at elementary school children.
