Founded in 1972 by a family of Portuguese immigrants in Naviraí, Brazil, the company initially started as a small business selling sweets and cookies under the name DEPÓSITO DE DOCES SANTA INÊS.

Expanding Horizons

In 1983, WHOLESALE DISPRANAVI was established, driven by the vision of José Chagas dos Santos and Maria Filomena da Silva Chagas. This venture recognized the growing demand for a wider range of products, including hygiene and cleaning supplies. The business continued to flourish, and in 1990, Supermercado Chama was born, inspired by the names Chagas and Maria Inês. Starting with just four checkout counters and twenty employees, the supermarket quickly became a cornerstone of the community.

Growth and Innovation

Over the years, Supermercado Chama has seen significant expansion. In 1994, the original store in Naviraí was renovated with modern facilities and now boasts ten checkout counters and fifty-five employees. The year 1998 marked the opening of the first branch in Dourados, followed by another in Iguatemi in 2009. These expansions were fueled by the same dedication and hard work that had characterized the company from the start.

Embracing the Future

In 2015, Supermercado Chama returned to its roots with the opening of a new branch in the Jardim Paraiso neighborhood of Naviraí. In 2016, the company launched Fogo Atacadista, a new concept in bulk shopping, with 105 employees. This innovative approach allowed the company to centralize administrative sectors, creating a robust framework for future growth.

Continued Expansion

In 2018, Chama Rápido was established in Naviraí, offering convenience and efficiency with thirteen employees. In 2019, the company expanded further into Caarapó, opening a new supermarket with thirty-seven employees and six checkout counters. The most recent addition in 2020 is the second Atacado Fogo Atacadista store, a state-of-the-art facility spanning 5,984 square meters, with ample parking and thirteen checkout counters.
