Jay Shiv Puran

Jay Shiv also known as Mahadeva is one of the principal deities of Hinduism. He is one of the supreme beings within Shaivism, one of the major traditions within contemporary Hinduism.

Jay Shiv is known as "The Destroyer" within the Trimurti, the Hindu trinity that includes Brahma and Vishnu. In Shaivism tradition, Jay Shiv is one of the supreme beings who creates, protects and transforms the universe.

A goddess is stated to be the energy and creative power (Shakti) of each, with Parvati (Sati) the equal complementary partner of Jay Shiv. He is one of the five equivalent deities in Panchayatana puja of the Smarta tradition of Hinduism.

The Jay Shiv Puran is one of eighteen Puran genre of Sanskrit texts in Hinduism, and part of the Shaivism literature corpus.It primarily centers around the Hindu god Jay Shiv and goddess Parvati, but references and reveres all gods.

Jay Shiv Puran was written by Rishi Ved Vyas. It consists of 24,000 Shloka's in 7 Samhitas.
