NTR JALA SIRI: Empowering Farmers with Access to Water

NTR JALA SIRI is a pioneering initiative designed to provide bore wells to needy and eligible farmers. This program aims to improve agricultural productivity by ensuring farmers have access to essential water resources.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the NTR JALA SIRI program, farmers must meet the following criteria:

• Own a minimum of 2.5 acres and a maximum of 10 acres of contiguous land.
• If a single farmer doesn't own 2.5 acres, groups of farmers sharing contiguous land totaling at least 2.5 acres can apply together.
• Only one bore well per family.
• Farmers who do not already have a bore well or tube well on their property.
• Farmers with abandoned bore wells or tube wells on their land.
• Farmers owning RoFR (Right of First Refusal) lands in tribal areas.
• Small and marginal farmers are eligible for the installation of pump sets at no cost.
• Lands covered under submergence areas or Lanka lands are not eligible.
• Overexploited revenue villages as notified by the government are also ineligible for bore well drilling.

Steps Involved in Borewell Drilling

The process for obtaining a bore well through NTR JALA SIRI involves several steps:

1. Application Submission: Farmers can submit their applications either online or through their local village secretariat.
2. Verification by Village Revenue Officer: The Village Revenue Officer verifies the eligibility of the applications.
3. Forwarding to Assistant Project Director: Eligible applications are forwarded to the Assistant Project Director of the District Water Management Agency.
4. Groundwater Survey: The drilling agency conducts a groundwater survey and submits the findings back to the Assistant Project Director.
5. Estimate Generation: The Assistant Project Director generates an estimate and sends it for administrative approval to the Project Director.
6. Admin Sanction: The Project Director obtains administrative sanction from the District Collector.
7. Drilling Process: The drilling agency begins drilling for approved proposals.
8. Quality Checks: After drilling, multiple quality checks are performed by a Technical Assistant, Engineering Consultant, Junior Engineer, Assistant Project Director, and Additional Project Director.
9. Payment Processing: Bills are submitted via the Comprehensive Financial Management System, and the Pay and Accounts Office handles the payment module.
