Real-Name Verification

Rules, required materials, and common questions around Pgyer real-name verification, including differences between individual and corporate identities, what can be changed afterward, and credential submission.

To comply with China's rules for mobile app distribution, Pgyer accounts need to complete real-name verification before uploading or distributing apps.

Why Real-Name Verification Is Required

Under China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology ("Interim Provisions on the Pre-installation and Distribution of Apps on Smart Mobile Devices") and Cyberspace Administration of China ("Provisions on the Administration of Information Services through Mobile Internet Applications") regulations, app stores and distribution platforms must collect and retain real-name information for developers when offering distribution services.

How Do Individual and Corporate Identities Differ?

The review policy differs slightly — for example, corporate identities get higher download quotas in Beta Mode. There's no functional difference otherwise; pick whichever reflects your real situation.

Verification Requirements

  1. All submitted information must belong to the actual person and be valid;
  2. Corporate info must match the company that owns the uploaded app and the business license;
  3. The ID info submitted — whether you're verifying as an individual or as a corporate contact — must match the real-name info tied to the phone number on the account.

Which IDs Are Supported?

Verification SubjectSupported IDs
Individual / corporate contact2nd-generation PRC resident ID card (no other IDs currently)
CorporationBusiness license issued by a government agency of the People's Republic of China

What Information Do I Need?

The actual verification page is authoritative. In general:

  • Individual: phone number, email, real name, ID number, ID card photo, handheld ID photo.
  • Corporation: everything above (submitted as the corporate contact), plus company name, business license (number or Unified Social Credit Code, and a photo), legal representative's name, and registered address.

What If the Phone Number on the Account Isn't Mine?

Depends on the account's current status:

  1. Just registered, no real-name info submitted yet: change the phone number under Account Settings → Profile to your own, then submit for verification.
  2. Already verified and you want to change the info: go to Account Settings → Profile, click Edit verification info, complete the account check, and resubmit.

Is Submitting Credential Files Optional?

Credential files prove that the app or its owner holds the right qualifications; they reflect regulatory restrictions on specific app categories. This is optional — if the app you plan to upload doesn't fall into a category that requires credentials, skip it.

If the app does need credentials, include them during verification so reviewers can see them in one place — it keeps the app from being taken down for missing qualifications later.

How Do Developers Outside Mainland China (Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, etc.) Verify?

At the upload step, submit any document that proves your identity, and the platform will arrange manual review.

Can I Change Identity Type After Verification?

What you can change depends on the original choice:

Original IdentityCan Change To
IndividualIndividual or Corporation
CorporationCorporation only

Do Previously Verified Accounts Need to Redo Verification?

Previously verified accounts are unaffected and continue to work. If you want to change the verified info, you'll need to resubmit under the current real-name rules.
