Android Installation Steps

How to download and install a Pgyer-distributed APK on Android via a browser, plus common permission and system prompts you may see along the way.

This page walks you through installing an Android app distributed via Pgyer, including switching from an in-app browser to the system browser, downloading the APK, and granting install permission.

The developer typically shares the install entry point in one of these ways:

  1. A link in an email;
  2. A link in an SMS or instant-messaging app;
  3. A QR code you can scan with the camera.

Use Chrome, Edge, or the phone's built-in browser to open the install link or scan the QR code, and make sure you have a stable network connection.

The in-app browsers in WeChat, DingTalk, Alipay, and similar apps may not be able to download APKs directly. Tap the More (three-dot) icon in the top right and choose Open in Browser before downloading.

Download the APK

On the install page, tap Download. The system or the browser may ask you to allow the download — tap Allow or OK.

If a safety prompt asks whether to keep the file, choose Keep or Download anyway.

Install the App

Once the download finishes, find the APK in the notification drawer or in your file manager and tap it to install. If the system asks whether to allow the browser to install apps from unknown sources, tap Allow.

Common Prompts on Chinese Android Phones

Huawei, Xiaomi, vivo, OPPO, and other Chinese vendors add extra prompts for APKs that come from outside their app stores:

  • Security risk warning: Read the message and choose Install anyway or Continue to install;
  • Not-filed-with-regulator warning: Informational only — you can ignore it and continue.
  • Recommended to install from the app store: Choose Install without using the app store or simply ignore the suggestion.

For vendor-specific UI differences, see:

Things to Watch For

  • After downloading, make sure the APK is intact; a corrupted file will cause installation to fail.
  • In system settings, grant Install unknown apps permission to the browser or file manager you use.
  • Only install APKs from trusted sources.

Common Issues

  • Cannot download the file: Check your network connection and the browser's download permissions; switch browsers or restart the device if needed.
  • Cannot install the app: Confirm that "Install unknown apps" is allowed, or re-download the APK.
  • App crashes or fails to launch: May indicate device incompatibility; contact the developer for a compatible build or check the system version.
