Installing an iOS App with Apple Business Redemption Codes

Requirements, acquisition, import, delivery rules, and important notes for Apple Business redemption codes in Pgyer.

Apple Business (formerly Apple Business Manager, commonly called ABM) is designed for businesses and organizations. When Apple offers the Redemption Codes license type for an app, an organization can obtain a batch of one-time codes and distribute them to its members.

Pgyer's ABM Redemption Code Installation feature imports and manages these codes. When a user starts an installation from a Pgyer download page, Pgyer delivers one available code first, reducing manual distribution work for administrators.

What Is an ABM Redemption Code?

Each code can be redeemed once. A user redeems it with a personal Apple Account, and the redeemed app is owned by that account.

An ABM redemption code is not an installation code for an arbitrary IPA file, and it does not replace device management or managed distribution. If your organization needs to revoke, reclaim, or reassign licenses, choose an appropriate managed distribution method in Apple Business.

Before You Begin

Make sure that:

  • Your organization has Apple Business and your account can purchase and download app redemption codes;
  • The iOS app is a paid app available in Apple Business, and Apple offers the Redemption Codes license type for it. Free apps do not offer redemption codes;
  • Each user's Apple Account country or region matches the country or region where the organization purchased the codes;
  • The organization and users are not in South Korea, where Apple Business currently does not offer redemption codes;
  • The file you are about to import belongs to the current app in Pgyer.

A redeemed code cannot be reassigned. In Pgyer, “Delivered” means that the redemption link was provided to a user; it does not confirm that the user completed redemption in the App Store.

Get Codes from Apple Business

  1. Sign in to Apple Business.
  2. Go to Apps and Services → Apps and Books → App Store → View Store.
  3. Search for and select the app.
  4. Select Redemption Codes as the license type, enter a quantity, and complete the purchase.
  5. After the purchase, go to Settings → Apps and Books → Purchase History, find the order, and download the redemption-code file.

Apple may adjust labels and navigation. Refer to Apple's app redemption-code guide for the current workflow.

Pgyer currently accepts the .xls file exported by Apple Business. Keep the original column headers and do not combine codes for multiple apps into one file.

Import and Enable Codes in Pgyer

  1. Open App Management and select the corresponding iOS app.
  2. Select Settings at the top of the page, then select ABM Redemption Code Installation.
  3. Select Choose redemption-code file (.xls) and upload the original file downloaded from Apple Business.
  4. Review the import preview. Pgyer shows importable, duplicate, and invalid rows and attempts to verify the Apple App ID and region.
  5. If the app cannot be detected automatically, confirm manually only after verifying that the file belongs to the current app. Import is blocked when multiple apps are detected or the App ID does not match.
  6. Select Confirm import. When the Available count is greater than zero, enable Redemption-code installation.

Importing codes does not enable this feature automatically, so you can review the counts and matching result first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I enable redemption-code installation?

At least one available code is required. Import a file and make sure that the Available count is greater than zero.

Why can't the file be imported?

Make sure it is the original .xls file downloaded from Apple Business, belongs to the current app, and does not contain codes for other apps. The import preview identifies duplicates, invalid rows, and App ID mismatches.

Does “Delivered” mean “Redeemed”?

No. Delivered only means that Pgyer provided the redemption link. Apple handles the user's App Store redemption, so Pgyer cannot use this status to confirm that redemption was completed.

Does the switch turn off when all codes are used?

No. When no available code remains, that installation continues using the app's existing installation method and the switch remains enabled. You can import more codes or disable the feature manually.
